A recent interview in Anna Magazine 16. June 2009, 13:42

Anna 24/2009 - An interview, Jarno M. Koponen

I was recently interviewed by Anna Magazine (24/2009) considering the effects and characteristics of the social digital environments (e.g. IM, email) and the “so-called social media” (e.g. Facebook, Myspace, Twitter).

The readership of Anna (a Finnish weekly journal) consists mostly of middle-aged females and the purpose of the article (including my interview) was to erase some of the existing prejudices, misconceptions and fears considering social media and their everyday applications.

In my part I emphasized that the new socially-orientated applications and services provide alternative communication channels alongside the existing ones. In their best these emerging channels and methods help us to establish, maintain and strengthen social relationships.

Digital communication in its versatile forms can aid and ease day-to-day communication, becoming a mundane part of our lives. However, one have to be ready to consider the available services and their features with care. A prudent user can choose the most suitable method of communication according to her personal needs, values and preferences.

Note. Anna Magazine seems to be in Twitter too.
